The Country recently changed its name from Swaziland to eSwatini. The Swazi natives have always referred to the country by the name eSwatini or Ka Ngwane meaning land of the Swazis. The change marks 50 years since independence from British rule.
Swaziland is the smallest country in Africa. It is around 17,364 square kilometers and around 200 kilometers. It is slightly smaller than the state of Massachusetts
Swaziland has its own currency called the Lilangeni, however it has the same fixed rates as the South African Rand. Most businesses will accept South African notes as payment but will be very finicky about South African coins.
Swaziland has two capital cities, Mbabane and Lobamba. Mbabane is the officially recognized capital. It is also known as the administrative capital while Lobamba is the royal and legislative capital.
The kingdom of Swaziland gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1968.
